The cemetery clean up for SJ II (formerly the Montopolis Cemetery) is fast approaching.
It is THIS Saturday (October 23) at 8 AM.
If that is too early for some of you, please know you are welcome to arrive anytime. We are meeting at 2512 Hoeke Lane. There will be volunteers who will direct parking into Ella Lane. Everyone should sign in on-site. Torchy's Tacos and Starbucks is partnering with us to provide breakfast. There will be water and juice there as well. A use of a restroom is currently being arranged.
We currently have about 20 community volunteers, but more are welcome. Please spread the news and bring others with you. Before any work begins, there will be a short introductory talk. We will break off into three teams assigned to three sections of the cemetery. Some volunteers may need to re-park their car. Please review the list below as to what is needed and bring what you are able.
A few notes:
There is thorny greenbrier, so leather gloves are recommended.
If you bring any tools, please label them with your name and phone number.
We ask that you wear a face mask when working closely around others.
Please refrain from listening to music or other audio. It is vital that everyone be able to hear others and the work going on around them
Please protect yourself with appropriate clothing and gloves. The area has poison oak.
Please do not wear sandals.
There is no electricity nor running water available.
Wish list:
Mulcher(s)/woodchippers
Chainsaws
Plastic bags for plastic litter
Branch clippers
Boxes for glass disposal (we will recycle what we can)
Lawn and heavy duty bags for other debris
chainsaws
String trimmers (weed-whackers)
Machetes
Lawn mowers
Protective eye glasses (for those working around wood chippers/mulchers and chainsaws)
Typical yard implements (rakes, hoes, shovels)
This list is not exhaustive.
Please continue to revisit this posting for more updates.
